MOVING THE WHEELS OF MARRIAGE FORWARD THROUGH CONTENTMENT
Contentment is the state wherein you are satisfied with what you have. Much strivings and struggles only bring upon one pains, struggles and anguish.
Sometimes we have the false satisfaction that we are moving forward by rivalry, showmanship and trying to look like the Dick and Harry.
In marriage both spouse should come together and find satisfaction in each other first. Each should be contented with what gift the Lord has given him or her.
Lack of satisfaction in your spouse is the foundation of stale and retrogressive relationship. Many homes are stagnated due to this reason.
Whoever God has allowed you to marry is the raw material to be processed in excellency and beauty. Get committed to it, you’ll look back and you’ll see how you have evolved into the dream marriage for the upcoming generation because you stayed in in satisfaction and contentment in spite of some shortcomings.
The Lord in his wisdom admonishes us not to covet others things, properties, relationships, etc.
Exodus 20:17 KJV
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.
God is saying this, not just for the good of your neighbours who you are coveting but for your own very good. Instead God is mindful of you.
Covetous people whether of relationship or materials don’t go far.
Let’s look critically at marriage.
When you’re covetous of another’s marriage you’ll grow weary and lame building yours.
The lawn (field) is green where it’s tended and cared for. No marriage accidentally becomes excellent… Somebody is committed in making it to work.
Somebody shook the head and smile wryly: You don’t know my spouse.
Whatever we work upon tirelessly often yield good result. It’s a matter of time. The faith as small as the mustard believing and trusting can bring forth the treasure in your spouse.
Note: Every human being no matter the depth of depravity has treasures that can be harvested for useful consequence. Your partner no doubt has vast treasure enough to satisfy you in spite of the shortcomings.
Stay working on that supposed wild field to bring out the treasure. Do you know why you’ve to keep at it? Somebody else cannot suddenly turn to become your spouse no matter the faith work since you’ve made your choice of spouse.
So you got your spouse to work upon through the work of faith. To win somebody’s spouse into your blossom is maddening and path to sorrowful end. So be contented with what you’ve got my dear.
When you see yourself as equal and specially endowed to walk that path, the journey begin to receive oil and grace
This Scripture capture our position to fruitful marriages:
Proverbs 5:15-20 KJV
Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well. [16] Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets. [17] Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee. [18] Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth. [19] Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. [20] And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
This Scripture ministers to both male and female gender
To be candid, it takes discipline to hold on to a single spouse with all the availing gifts out there… Beauty, complexion, front side elevation, back view, scintillating eloquence, etc.
As long as we are in the world the challenge and temptation is there… To fall in is to go the way of death and lost of relevance
Like Job, we say: I have made a covenant with my eyes not to behold… What you’re not given that you long for leads to transgression, pains and sufferings. May God help us to stand tall
The book of Proverbs show us a foolish man who goes through the house of the easy woman… The Bible describe it as the way of death.
Do you know?
Many who lost contentment and flounder into immorality have lost their homes and marriages.
Sometimes what they desire after all never matters because as soon as they go out there they realize what they lost was far better.
I want to encourage you to keep that marriage and make it work
Somebody says: I’m in an abusive marriage
Under the heavens of God anything is possible. I have seen abusive marriage healed. Yours too can be healed for with God all things are possible.
I have seen homes ridden with challenges get better. When the will is made to make the marriage work God will give you the wisdom to handle every challenges on your way.
Finally, instead of looking outward for a show look inward to your spouse.
Let God make it the best for you. God can repackage it anew.
May God make our relationship work as we embrace contentment in driving our home front.
