LIFE IS A MARATHON, NOT A 100 METER DASH

Recently a mother came to me with concern. The son was under intense pressure to succeed; he had to accuse his mom of her negligence to pray for him enough. Then I asked her that I see the boy, she brought him. I laughed within me and asked for the Holy Spirit guidance to counsel him in truth and nothing but the truth. He is barely old to begin to equate success in terms of money and material. He should be concerned with building himself to become more competent.

Competence overtime leads to mastery and mastery leads to success. There is nothing like overnight success. Even the young Olympic medalists paid the price of sleepless days and trainings.

This boy I was talking about was indeed a very young person; yet he is already becoming depressed. The environment is giving him the wrong picture of what success is. So I told him, you are still in the age bracket to learn more in life; it is better you wait patiently for your time or get yourself destroy if you want to follow the ways of the fraudsters around you. Then I looked at the mother and I told her not to pressure him to lead the negative kind of success.

Life is in phases, men are in sizes. The Bible says: There is a time for everything under heaven. Wait for your appropriate time is the foundation for rest. Even when two of you are doing similar things, your results cannot be the same. You would all succeed but at different thing, time, season and ways.

In the days of the missionaries, they each brought to bear peculiar grace and capacity. A David Breinard is different from a Mary Slessor and she in turn is different from Mother Theresa of Calcutta. Each of them is in the Hall of Fame of men who influence the world for the Lord.

The art of trying to look like others and get similar results has led to depression, frustration and death of many. For God’s sake, we are different.

There is one thing that is certain for everyone who wants to succeed, you would pay your price and wait patiently for the season of fruiting. The Bible says: As long as the earth endures, seed time and harvest time shall not cease.

If you have put in all the effort you can, rest. The seed must come before the fruit.

Prayer: Lord, give me the patience to cultivate my life until the season of fruition in Jesus name.
