THE ELIXIR – HOPE
When we are hopeful, miracles happen. When hope fails, we die. This is an inspiration to create your own miracles, wake up life and energy and go conquer.
I heard the story of a farmer who was sick unto death. Everybody had done everything possible to no avail. As a final support, three of his friends carried him on the journey to come die at his home in town instead of dying at the farm. As they were close to town, he told his friends to stop on the way. Then he prayed: Lord, I want to build a house in life before dying. The man lived afterward and built a house in life and so two of the friends who said “Amen” except one of the three who laughed when he made the prayer.
When Job was sick, nothing kept him order than hope of a new dawn. This hope was what gave him strength to stay true to the Living God when everyone was against him.
Job 219:25-27
25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: 26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: 27 Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; though my reins be consumed within me.
Victor Frankl in his book: Man’s Search for Meaning gave us many evidences of how hope can conquer every possible limiting power around. In Nazi’s concentration camp during the Second World War, hundreds were dying but he made up his mind to live through. By what seem to be sheer luck, he came through. On the other hands, he gave instances of others who died barely days after their hope of coming out alive was dashed. What killed most of them wasn’t just the situation but lack of hope.
When hope is lost, life is lost.
Of Abraham it was accounted:
Rom 4:18-21
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara’s womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
Prayer: Lord, cause hope of possibility be built through my inner rein. Give me the resilient spirit to conquer every battle around me.
