CARELESS LOVER Part 16

*CARELESS LOVER Part 16*

*THE MOUNTING HELL*

“Felix.”

“Mama.”

“I want you to see it as good news to be received with thanksgiving my son.”

“Mama,” Felix retorted, “but I don’t love her for a wife, it was infatuation.”

“Ugh ughum,” she cleared her throat. “I want you to know that every child is priceless and a gift of God to mankind. This also doesn’t matter how the child comes to the world whether of noble birth or a result of prostitution.

“Our humanity is equal irrespective of our status, as the son of a president is so is that of a mad woman on the street.

“I wouldn’t want to force the mother on you, but you have to celebrate her pregnancy the same way you’ll treat any other one your wife will have in the future.

“Therefore, be soft a little with the mother of your unborn child. The future is in the womb of today. Even if you’ll not marry her, let good things be said of you in fifty years time regarding how you handle the moment.”

“OK mom, I have always counted on your wisdom and it has never failed me mother.”

“That’s my darling son. God bless you for heeding my advice.”

“Still, I will want you to know this: Helen seem to be a crafty being. I come to know her better by the day, full of wiles and intrigues. I fell into her well determined web. With her pregnancy she wanted to lay legitimacy on me. So I have to be careful while dealing with her.”

“Lastly,” Felix mom said, “do have it at the back of your mind that our culture holds it that anyone who has a child for one is no longer a concubine but a wife.

“This is why tradition has it that you don’t go sleep with a woman you’re not ready to marry no matter how high the emotion may rise. By what’s on ground you’re ensnared as a result of the pregnancy; so you must be very patient with the situation on ground. She may turn out to be your wife, for this reason don’t be rash with her.” His mother encouraged him.

“Mama, she’s not my wife and can never be. She’s as subtle as a serpent, I don’t want somebody like that.”

“I have many true life stories that could make volumes of book to score a lesson to that effect.

“Here is one:

“Lawson was a star boy in his neighbourhood, he was the darling of every girl around. He has mastered the game of touching girls where it matters; he cares for ladies to a fault.

“He understood how women are wired and he plies his devilish trade through this delicate link. He lurks around for the vulnerable moments and he overwhelm his prey so easily.

“Amanda was his next target. She was beauty personified, but she was being molested by her uncle with who she lived with. She cried day in day out. Her sullen state sold her out.

“Lawson came around as the saviour, she needed. She was so frustrated she opened up everything; she wanted a way out. Then she became pregnant. Lawson denied responsibility. Her case was that of a frog that jumped from frying pan to fire.

“Stanley was her son. He grew out of the rocky ground of dejection, rejection and deprivation. He laboured to make up and fend for the tiring hands of the mother. Wealth smiled at him.

“About Lawson? He lived without having another son in spite of his many women and escapades. He died at the prime of life from sexually transmitted disease.”

“Mother?”

“Yes?”

“Why do you have to tell me that long narrative?”

“Stories have ways of bringing to life vital lessons of life.”

“OK, what lesson do you want to pass across? I’m not wayward like Lawson.”

“You are like Lawson in this regard: you are so hopeful that the woman you’ll marry later will give you all the children you want? Don’t forget that only God gives children as he wills.

“Be careful my son.”

“I promise I’ll.”

His mom prayed for him and hung the phone. Then Felix sank into one of the chairs in his living room.

He was prompt in his action. He called Helen and asked for her account number.

“I’m paying this money to you to buy things necessary as a waiting mother and possibly for your antenatal care.”

“Felix,” Helen said softly, “Am I hearing you right?”

“Sure.”

“Thanks be to God,” she was delighted, “My husband, I love you and that from the first day.”

“I’m not your husband, I’m doing this as a responsible father-to-be. The baby shouldn’t suffer for our careless sin. What do you think?”

“Sin?” Helen queried. “Sin you called it because we love each other? Sin you called it that we appreciate one another? Sin for the intimacy as a result of the depth of love we share that day?” She began to cry.

“Helen, we are from different world… One could make mistake sometimes but what’s wrong is justifying wrong. The Bible says that he who covers his sin shall not prosper.

“I’m not choosy and I have no hatred of you. My problem is on the issue of virtue and I’m ready to go along with anybody that has it. This is why I said you cannot tie me down with the pregnancy. Yet I promise to take care of the baby with all that I have.”

“Felix,” she began to weep. “I cannot live without you.”

“Helen, let’s not waste much time on that. We have divergent values. Send your account for all necessary bills that would cover any expense between now and the birth of the baby. Please don’t let me feel guilty hurting you. You’re priceless but I don’t intend marrying you; this is how I feel.”

“We need to see Felix,” she tried to persuade him.

“I’m not coming around to that,” he replied and he ended up the talk.

Felix understood the power of a sexually attractive lady over the soul of a man. He knew so well that Helen is unusually attractive and captivating. He couldn’t manage her beauty and feminine gestures under a close door. For such reason he made up his mind never to be alone with her; to say she’s sexy is an understatement.

His failure to run early enough brought on him this pressure of her pregnancy. He hope it’s not too late.

Helen too knew that she had reasonable hold on Felix. She remembered the first time she caught him looking her way. As a woman she could read what the look looked like. This gave her the fortitude to prey on him.

This was how she became the Monitoring Spirit in the life of Felix. She is a master of the game.

Helen sat picturing the grandeur that would go with being his wife and the concomitant fame as the beautiful wife of Felix.

She looked distantly on how to plot the next game. She smiled vacantly.

“I am marrying you Felix, the CEO of Experon Payment System. The potential richest man from the continent of Africa; the mover of our time.”

She lay on the chair pleasurably fidgeting with her fingers as she slept off in seconds.

What do you think her next plot is?
