CARELESS LOVER Part 10

CARELESS LOVER Part 10

THE MONITORING SPIRIT

Felix looked on his official phone screen and saw fifty four missed calls thirty of which was from Helen. Many of us don’t know her.

She was the monitoring spirit of Felix. As much as Felix was getting out of her hooks she was getting closer to the point of choking him. Helen understood the power of a woman in a man’s life and she was reedy to maximize its influence on Felix.

He had no friend as such so she took over the void. She’s a great communicator: she made it a duty to call him morning, noon and evening. Anytime he failed to pick her call she ensured to follow up with a text or chat message.

She appeared harmless and gorgeous. She’s the kind of woman he liked. It never took him time to begin to fall for her. He needed a wife and in every way she seem to understand him and was gifted to understand his mood. She seem to have a gift of reading him well like a seer.

Helen was everything a man would desire. Cool headed and lovable and very caring to a fault. He remembered how they met, he met her at the gymnasium one Saturday morning. Felix in no time assessed her to be a sanguine and an easy going person.

“I am Helen and I want us to be friend.”

“Just like that?” Felix muttered but that will not put her off easily.

“Yes, just like that,” Helen replied and walked away without waiting for a reply.

“Good day Felix,” she smiled as she walked past to the other side of the gymnasium another day.

“Who gave you my name Monitoring Spirit,” Felix was trying to wade her off.

“Call me anything,” she replied. “Do you know what? I love that name. From today I’ll be your monitoring spirit, because I care.”

Felix who all his life was a goal getter loved art of bravery, so he began to secretly love Helen. The two of them began to look up toward Saturday as opportunity to see each other. In no time they became regular pair around. Then gymnastics became fun and fulfilling. Felix would help her and she would in turn.

The desire and the burning became wilder by the day. The innocent activities was creating arousal in both.

One of those days as he flipped through his Bible he read Song of Solomon that love should not be stirred until it is desired.

Felix couldn’t be so sure his heartbeat towards Helen was right. He found out they were always in the touching business. They look for every opportunity to be alone to hold each other tight. He knew quite well that’s Helen created the environment but he also seem to enjoy it more than her.

He’s beginning to justify the commonplace slang: “Body no be firewood.”

He remembered one day he was with Abraham and as he was discussing with him the extent of the relationship that Abraham cut in:

“You’re already falling neck deep into sin,” Abraham reprimanded his friend, “Can’t you see Helen as a snare?”
“What do you mean?”

“She loved the fine boy in you. She had a good view at the gym and must have viewed your muscular grip of her. She had fallen for your handsome look.”

“Seem you know some things,” Felix agreed.

Abraham continued: “Helen is helpless. It’s you that can help her by pulling out of the environment that’s aiding the nurture of that beast within both of you. When you keep honouring her call and gestures the two of you will be swallowed by inordinate affection. This is not love but infatuation. After lust, you may end up destroying one another. Be careful.”

“Abraham,” Felix said disgustedly, “I have played the fool.”

“How?”

“One of those days after our usual meetings at the gym, she asked me to take her home. I love it too, the seemingly innocent pecks and kisses when we part.

“I dropped her as usual, pecked her and about disengaging her she pleaded that I enter her house. One talk and thing led to the other. Few minutes turned to hours. We were so relaxed together that even the time stood still for us. All kind of touching business even in the secret arenas.

“That day, I promised within me to propose to her the next meeting, a Saturday away.

“Much later, I was ready to go and as I bid her good bye she began in tears. She cried profusely.”

Felix was afraid and he asked her why the sudden tears. He held her closely.

“I cannot do without you anymore. If you must leave me for a whole week, please my body needs you.” Being the bold type she told him she wanted him intimately. She removed everything. Felix hormonal drive had crossed the Rubicon, he fell flat for her. Few minutes later both were sweating profusely beyond that in the gym.

“My dream came through today,” Helen said happily. She wanted more.

“What dream?” Felix angrily enquired.

“I have always dreamed of having those your muscles crush me beneath. That exactly you did today.” She laughed ecstatically. “Didn’t you enjoy? But you did.”

Felix dressed up, took his car key and zoomed off. This was some two months ago. Since then Felix had refused to meet Helen, not even at the gym. The proposal withdrew.

It is not good to arouse love until it’s so desired. Helen had been looking on all avenue to pin Felix down.

Felix wanted more than sex. But the recent experience with Mary made his heart to begin to vacillate, confuse and unsure. He began to imagine time with Helen who made her world available unlike Mary who remained inaccessible brick wall.
This was why he travelled away for a personal retreat. He was confused, troubled and down. The woman he truly love was the Prayer Mantis.

Helen’s called again. He was between opinion but later picked the call.

“Felix,” she said, “I am pregnant for you, let’s meet and talk.” She dropped the phone and switched off. He was shaking and troubled at the news.

Nonetheless, he was expecting a call or text from someone dear to his heart, Mary Mouton…

Then he scrolled through the messages and he saw none from Mary. But he saw messages that made his heart seem to want to jump out.

Jide wrote: “… One Agnes said you are involved in an issue sir. Please call her.”

Agnes wrote: “Mary is in a coma in the hospital, you caused it…”

Felix immediately placed a call to Agnes with trembling hands and voice.

Agnes said: “I told you my friend is delicate that we don’t want a player. She’s in coma between life and death. What did you do to her? You made her love you and you left her. Why?”

“Mary, loved me?” He asked himself slowly. “My life is crashing.”

Agnes cried out: “Everybody is confuse, the Mouton family, the church, everyone. Only you knew what you did to her. We are all waiting for you.”

After getting all the facts and the hospital he dropped the phone.

Felix who had been standing since he entered his hotel room fell flat on his bed and began to wail like a baby. This he had not done since he was a kid. There and then he slept off with shoes on and intense hunger disappeared. His was a troubled soul between the bull and the deep blue sea.

Life seem not to be fair to Mary and Felix.
