CARELESS LOVER Part 9
LOVE ON THE EDGE
Agnes drove to the main gate of Experon Payment System Limited headquarters and met with the security personnel who told her that the big boss wasn’t around. Then Agnes began to cry profusely. This got the attention of the chief security officer (CSO).
“Madam, is anything wrong?”
“Serious issue on ground,” she said, “I need to speak with Mr Felix please.”
“For security reasons we cannot give you his number,” the CSO said. “Please come in and have your seat.” She entered into the CSO’s office and the latter dialed all his known numbers, none went through except one; his private official line.
“Only his private official line is getting through,” the CSO said to her.
“Ok sir. Thanks for your kindness.
“He’s not picking the call, I hope all is well.”
“Oh no, he should pick the call.” Agnes muttered prayerfully. The concern is becoming double. The CSO also was becoming troubled. To be settled he took Agnes along to the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
They passed through the secretary of the COO and were before Jide: “I have been briefed. You cannot see Mr Felix until next week, he had taken a week’s vacation starting today. He had travelled out of the country this morning.
” Not now,” Agnes muttered prayerfully.
“He followed the first flight.” Jide told her how it’s impossible to get him now. More so, most of his numbers are on airplane mode.
“Tell him when you get through that Mary Mouton is in coma; and that he causes it.” She wept as she walked angrily out of the office and before anyone could stop her she zoomed off.
Back in the hospital Mary was not responding to treatment. So for a great part of the time she was helped with drug to sleep deep. The doctor understood that she’s emotionally shattered by connecting the puzzling circumstances. So she ensured Mary’s mind was not agitated further in any way.
Mary being a very dedicated sister in church had throngs of visitors around though most of the people coming around were not allowed to go close to her bedside to avoid affecting her state any further.
The very few who got around to her were the pastor and the wife who prayed for her well-being and quick recovery. Then much later were her fellow bank staff led by her Branch Manager.
Seeing the number of people around her doubly emphasized the saying: It is good to be good. Everyone’s desire was for Mary Mouton’s quick recovery.
A very conspicuous person around was Semile who came in the company of Ladi. They appeared to be lovers who just found themselves.
Semile can never forget the role of Mary in his life. The very striking one was the one that led to an affectionate relationship between him and Ladi.
He remembered Mary telling him: “You have missed it somewhere I supposed. You have taken your friend (me) as a lover and you made your lover as friend.”
This led Semile to ponder deeply on this statement which has now yielded positive fruit in his life.
Often many people have a lover as a neighbour, schoolmate, workmate, social friend and childhood friends. Because of the affinity they trivialize this God given gift and go in search of grand love fantasy and experiences far away. They lose their loved one who sits silently close by and fall for a stranger in the name of love. This is why many people end up in the hands of strangers.
Also we have some people who are placed divinely on our ways as friends, colleagues, helpers, and so on. We should not make them lovers else we will lose such fellows.
Some have turned their friends into bedmate and ended up in lousy sex affairs. Then the purpose is abused and unrealized; they ended up traumatizing one another.
Semile remembered how Ladi and himself have been long standing friends from their secondary school days. He held the key that opens Ladi and he understood her better than anyone else.
He remembered that most men that wanted her will always come through him. He was the access to Ladi and he was always willing to help them get through to her. But one thing has been constant, one after the other Ladi would always give them the red card: No, no, no. Semile couldn’t read between lines.
He always thought Ladi merely liked him and was just fond of him until Mary called Semile’s attention. “Can’t you see love when you see one?”
Then he began to observe things closely. Semile had double mind based on human expectations, he loved the soft elegant Mary. Tall and very fair in complexion. He often thought her as the only lady in the whole world that has everything in place: beautiful sparkling eyes, pointed nose and gentle manner like a dove.
At another time Mary told him: “Marry for love sake. Without love marriage will be unfulfilling.” This was one of her very thoughtful advise that finally led him to boldly go for Ladi.
Semile remembered the day he asked Ladi’s hand in marriage. Ladi bursted out with torrent of tears.
“Why did you keep me waiting all these years,” she clung tightly to Semile, she sobbed as she places her head on Semile’s chest. Ladi was quick to embrace the love she had been waiting for and it has been love growing in leap and bound. Not because they had everything in place but because they were truly committed to the relationship.
Mary had been an instrument of God to the genesis of these lovebirds. So they felt they owe her the duty of checking on her as friends, and a special friend indeed.
Mary was an epitome of godliness and wisdom Semile thought.
“Why would good people have much trouble?” Semile asked Ladi.
“Good people are like the general in the battle ground.” Ladi was quick in response. “They are the sole aim of satanic onslaught. I hope Mary gets well fast.”
“Amen,” Semile responded, “I will want us to pray for her and rebuke every satanic entanglement and spiritual confusion in Jesus name.” They held hands and prayed for their friend at one corner of the hospital.
Mary was a jolly good fellow.
