In spite of Gideon’s negativity God reaffirmed that he was with him. God was patient with Gideon whose encounter since childhood was abuse, suffering and suppression from the Midianites.
He went as far as to require signs from God to confirm that he will defeat the Midianites; and God confirmed every sign to show to him that he was with him. God will continue to give us the signs of his presence anytime we need it. God confirmed himself to Gideon by signs more than he needed; in the same way, God’s signs will follow us when we are ready to obey.
The words of God brought Gideon from the back side to the forefront in Israel; embolden him and gave him the courage needed.
The word of God removed the limits on Gideon’s life. In quick pace he broke the altar of Baal in his father’s custody, built a formidable armed force and overthrew the power of Midian and surrounding nations in an instant. Once again, Israel rose into a respectable position among the nations of their time; because one man chose to believe that the limits are broken.
The word of God, when received brings liberty to an individual; this extends to his immediate family, his immediate society and an entire nation or nations.

The world have known oppression and limitations for so long, they serve things that are not God and submit to forces they ought not to give in to because they know no better.
Joash, the father of Gideon served Baal for so long without any derived benefit; all he needed to cut off the yoke of idolatry is the boldness of one man; any man – Gideon his son chose to be the man.
Many people are all their lives bound by the fear of lifeless forces of witches, wizards and satanic powers – powers that are nothing and incomparable to the power of the eminent God of the Universe. All they need is one man to prove that you can live beyond the domination of these evil forces and you will save millions by your bold faith in God. Many serve Satan all their lives not because they love him but because they fear him – thinking that he has much power to harm them even in the presence of God.
No man will really know true liberty that still live under the fear of Satan, demons, gods or any idol. Spiritual liberation brings about physical liberation. As Israel got liberation from the yoke of Baal, they had the courage to fight the Midianites and defeated them.
The national victory began because one man chose to live beyond the limits.
Most of the limits we recognize are not really there. We gave those limits lives because we choose to recognize them.
Today, if you lift up your eyes from the limits to Jesus our Emmanuel, you will move from death to life, poverty to riches, and destitution to freedom.
Think of it, if you would respond to move by faith with God, like Gideon you may become an inspiration to an entire nation.
